Don’t let the January exam blues get you down...
Added on January 12th, 2010 by Rough Hill
From all the tales filtering back from our Xmas parties as well New Year shenanigans, students everywhere have been saying sayonara to the (awfully named) ‘Noughties’ in spectacular fashion. Likely scenario: your mumma’s turkey has long been destroyed, those snaps from NYE are all over facebook and all the fun festive times have been pickled in enough brain booze to become distant memories in the face of January exams.
Things may be grim right now but here’s a little list specially recommended by us here at Rough Hill to help you get through the dark days of exams and through to the bright lights of party time!
Awesome New Music
Like your grime? Wiley’s first single of 2010 is here and Rough Hill is loving his slick, down-tempo, relaxed new style.
Since it’s sort of snow themed (how Rough Hill misses snow days…) and just a really beautiful song everyone should listen to The Leisure Society’s Last of the Melting Snow . It also won the Ivor Novello Award last year. Check it.
On the flip side of the video search engine here’s some super slick drum and bass from DJ Die called Bright Lights, unreleased and totally bad. As in bad meaning good.
End of Exam Fun Time
You’re putting in the hours in your library/bedroom/padded cell, downing the energy drinks and making up for those joyous weeks over Christmas when every revision day was ‘tomorrow’. Just keep in mind that when it’s all over the blow outs will more than make up for all the brain punishment, and if you’re lucky enough to live in Leeds or Cardiff Rough Hill has got the following treats in store for your exam period:
In Leeds Gatecrasher 7’s Mischief is hosting a full on End of Exams bash, as well as Full Moon spectacular Exam Slam Blowout parties in both Leeds and Manchester.
While over in Cardiff Vodka Island will be throwing our own special End of Exams Full Moon Blow Out!
And as if that wasn’t enough to look forward to…
Summer
It may seem like months away now but it will be here before you know it, it’s time to give yourself the incentive to push through the year and snap up those festival tickets, book the mental uni holidays, and dream of the end of year celebrations when words like dissertation, timetable, essay deadline and 9am will become meaningless. Ah, good times.
